Life Story

My name is Bob Williaford and it is my honor to serve as an elder, a teacher of adults and to chair the Finance Committee at Cornerstone Bible Church.

I have a wonderful wife in Karen Williaford, and God blessed us with two great daughters, Kim and Robin, who are in their twenties.   Karen and I are from Dallas, although we have moved away and come back.  I grew up as the youngest in a large family and am grateful that my parents introduced me to church and to God.  I made my profession of faith at age 10, and my second surge of faith growth occurred while I was at the University of Texas at Austin, where I came out with a business degree and a renewed faith.

My third stage of growth in my faith began in 1993 when I attended a three-day weekend retreat-like experience called Tres Dias.  My walk with Jesus Christ deepened and my relationship with Him became much more personal.  That is still a ministry where I am led to serve, and I like how God trains leaders in the local church and renews peoples’ faith in that ministry.

In my varied church life I have enjoyed being an active member as a Baptist, Presbyterian, Disciple of Christ (Christian Church) a Methodist, and now a Bible church.  I have come to the place that, for me, it is less about the denominational flag and more about having Jesus Christ as the central focal point of the church family. To be a self-governing church that is autonomous from a larger organization makes me take seriously the stewardship and governance of this local church.  I love my church family and am so grateful for it and where God is taking us.

Hope for Cornerstone Bible Church

My hope for Cornerstone Bible Church is that God would use me to build up Christian leaders and help develop disciples to grow in their faith.  My desire is to be used by God to help others to grow closer to Christ, and deepen their personal relationship with Him.  As an elder, my area at Cornerstone is leadership formation and development. I love how God equips the called, much more so than calling the equipped.  If God can use a broken and highly imperfect person like me, He can use you and do great things through you.
